   If you're not familiar with what a production Sound Mixer / Recordist does, they are responsible for getting the best possible recording of the dialogue and other sound related to a scene in a film or video production.

   In most situations, the Mixer is aided by a Boom Operator, who is directly in control of the placement of microphones.  Also invaluable to the process is the sound assistant, sometimes called the Second Boom, Cableperson, or Sound Utility.

  At the completion of the film shoot, the original master tapes are turned over to the post-production team for the editing stage of the project.
